Fishing Activities Committee
July 1998
Dear Member:
I would like to announce
the creation of a new committee to represent the
interests of members who like to fish, and plan for a
wide variety of fishing related opportunities for those
who enjoy fishing as well as those who desire to learn.
Some of the activities that we hope to initiate or bring
back include:
 |
Fishing contests,
both on and off
our fishing pier. |
 |
Organize fishing
trips on local "head boats" and
"six pack" charters. |
 |
Set up fishing
expeditions to remote locations, such as Cape
May, the North Carolina Outer Banks and the
Florida Keys. |
 |
Conduct seminars
at the Club on fishing topics such as knot tying,
bait rigging, etc. |
 |
Establish a list
of members with boats who are interested in
offering fishing trips to members without boats
(expenses to be shared), and set up a
clearinghouse to expand opportunities to
"fill the boat" with fishermen. |
 |
Solicit donations
of fishing gear and tackle, and maintain same in
the baithouse so that members who want to fish,
but do not have their own equipment with them,
can do so. We will also stock some bait, such as
squid and frozen spearing for members' use. |
There are many other
activities to plan for, but we need your help. As the
committee is new, we need the support of all fishing
enthusiasts to help in setting up a charter for the
committee, serve on the committee and attend a start up
meeting to get to know each other and share ideas. I
propose to have the meeting at 6:00pm on Wednesday,
August 12, 1998 at the BFC. I hope to see you there, but
welcome your ideas in any event.

Chairman, Fishing Activities Committee
Member, Board of Governors
